Parow Centre - Festive Guide 2022

17 It is hard to believe that we made it through another crazy year, despite restrictions, hardships and losses! Sadly, our organisation lost one of our stalwarts, Dessie (Nana), our business partner of some 17 years. Des was not only passionate about our cause, but also a friend, business associate and mother to many. Gone, but never to be forgotten, the remaining crew at the Pink Ladies continue with passion, doing what we have learned to do best! As we know, with the Festive Season, come many challenges - especially for single parents and child-headed households. Our youngsters are also under continued pressure with all the changes in lifestyle, safety and uncertainty of our current times. If it is difficult for us adults to adjust, imagine how difficult it is for our youth, to whom the current economic climate and uncertainty about many aspects of their being is a heavy burden to bear and unprecedented. We sometimes forget that for many of them (if not most), this is the first time in their lives they have had to deal with states of emergency, lockdowns, poverty, shortages and restrictions. Please reach out to your loved ones and especially our vulnerable youth and elderly at this time. Lend a helping hand hand, shoulder and ear. It's the least you can do!" When reporting themissing child to the SAPS: • Provide law enforcement with your child’s name, date of birth, height, weight, and descriptions of any other unique identifiers such as eyeglasses and braces. Tell them when you noticed your child was missing and what clothing he or she was wearing. • Produce a recent photograph of the missing person, if possible. • Give a complete description of the missing person’s last whereabouts, clothes that they were wearing, as well as any information that can assist the investigating officer. • Complete and sign a SAPS 55(A) form. This form safeguards the SAPS from hoax reports and indemnifies the SAPS to distribute the photograph and information of themissing person. • Obtain the investigating officer’s contact details, and send any additional information that might become available. 24 Hour SMS: 072 214 7439 E-mail: missing@pinkladies.org.za • admin@pinkladies.org.za MES (Mould Empower Serve) Cape Town is a not-for-profit organisation aimed at restoring dignity and empowering the homeless and impoverished individuals through shelter, food provision, change and work readiness, spiritual enrichment, social intervention and reintegration.
